Africa World Airlines to Announce Schedule for Ho Commercial Flights in June

Africa World Airlines (AWA) says it will, by June this year, announce a schedule for the commencement of commercial flights to Ho in the Volta Region.

The company expects to complete the necessary operationalization processes before the proposed date.

This announcement follows its successful demonstration flight to the Ho airport last Thursday.

“The process of establishing this new route and providing the required personnel and logistics is expected to be completed by the middle of June 2021 at which time a commercial schedule would have been released.”

“It is after this that the Airline expects to operate the first commercial flight,” AWA said in a statement.

Earlier this year, the company pegged the cost of a flight to the Ho Airport at GHS99.

It has thus reiterated its commitment to enhancing domestic travel in Ghana.

“The demonstration flight provided vital technical data regarding jet aircraft operation into Ho airport as well as testing the joint capabilities of service providers and state authorities in the region, in order to establish acceptable safety standards for commercial operation,” the company added.

The Airline, in its statement, thanked the chiefs and people of Asogli for their warm reception and outstanding hospitality.

Prior to the demonstration flight, industry players said news of the landing of Africa World Airline’s commercial airbus at the Ho airport will present tremendous opportunities for the local economy and also enhance tourism in the region.

With the region noted for its cleanliness and rich tourism potential, the tourism authority in the Volta Region says it has begun preparing tourist centres to be able to receive the anticipated increased number of visitors.

The commercial flight, when operationalized, will cut travel time between Ho and Accra from three hours by road to about 30 minutes by air.

Africa World Airlines, as a proud Ghanaian airline, says it remains committed to providing seamless domestic connectivity and promoting economic growth through the provision of safe, reliable and affordable air travel.
